SOLD Belle Epoque, plastron, dickie, blouse, costumier, film prop, collector, sewing projects
This is a pretty little sleeveless, cotton, lingerie blouse, worn in the early 1900s under afternoon dresses or with tailored skirts and jackets.
It is being sold for the value of the pretty stand up collar which is constructed from strips of Valenciennes insertion lace and panels of find ribbed cotton.
If you are wanting to wear it as a blouse, the shape is very tailored so please measure carefully before purchasing as I would hate you to be disappointed.
Shoulder to waist 15”
Top edge 12 1/2”
Height of stand up section 2 3/4”
The condition is fair to good. There a few stitches required where the lace insertion is attached to the cotton strips, some wear on the fabric of the neck stays and a little rust damage on the top one of the hooks and eyes. Use the zoom feature to take a close look. The blouse section is made of cotton gauze and is pulled in several places. I have not removed the collar from the blouse as I thought that costumiers may want to remove it and use the blouse section to cut a new pattern to then apply this collar to.
This useful garment would be a lovely addition to your period clothing collection. It may appeal to costumiers, fashion students, museums or vintage clothing addicts.
Thanks for looking!
