This lovely old marotte dates to the first half of the 1800s. Judging by the shape of the head circa 1840. She has been used over many years and being papier mâché, she has a few battle scars. There are some repainted elements but nothing that detracts from her decorative charm. Her head is covered with kid leather.
There is a compartment in the back in which you place a weight, to hold her steady.
Take a close look at the images to understand her condition, which is commensurate with an ‘objet de metier’ from years gone by.
