French historical 18th century needlepoint picture, gilded frame, vintage textile picture, embroidery, shabby chic, paris apartment
This is one of a pair of needlepoint pictures, bought in a French antique fair in Normandy. The scene is an elaborate 18th century ballroom with two beautifully dressed gentlemen toasting a lovely lady in her ball gown. They are quite animated in conversation. The needlework is very well done and uses a variety of stitches and thread textures. Wool, silk and metallic embroidery thread can all be found. This picture probably dates from between the wars. The frame is gilded wood which has a few knocks around the edges. Please use the zoom feature to take a close look. If you like this picture you may also like Thanks for looking!
